Humberto Brito was born in Setúbal, Portugal, in 1980. He obtained a Ph.D. in Literary Theory from Universidade de Lisboa in 2007. He is a researcher at the Nova Institute of Philosophy since 2008. He held teaching appointments at Stanford University, at the University of Chicago, Universidade de Lisboa, and Universidade Nova de Lisboa. From 2009 to 2015 he directed the Philosophy and Literature Network. In 2013 he and Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida founded the on-line journal Forma de Vida, which he directed until December 2016. He studied Photography at Atelier de Lisboa. His writing has appeared in Colóquio/Letras, Forma de Vida, Ler, Notre Dame Philosophical Review, Observador, Philosophy and LiteratureKriterion, and Zum. His photos have appeared on Phases Mag.
